In The Cut: Lil Buck posted at: 09/11/14 @ 06:11 | « back to main
This week on In the Cut, (my segment on The Eclectic Cafe with Bonnie Grice on NPR Station 88.3 wppb), I spoke about dancer Lil Buck. He is a hip hop dancer with a really unique style of movement. Known as "jookin," (a subgenre of the hip hop style of movement), Lil Buck is one of the rare dancers that is raising this style into the realm of high brow art.
Having performed his version of "the dying swan" with Yo-Yo Ma, as well as being invited by NYC Ballet to perform at Lincoln Center in their "New Works" series this past spring, Lil Buck has really been involved in some high profile dance opportunities that really showcases where the art form of hip hop dance can go.
Below his work with Yo-Yo Ma and one of the videos from the NOWNESS series, which is another cool thing that showcases dance.
